Hello! I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Hanyang University ERICA and the director of the Human-centered Physical Intelligence (HPI) Lab. Our research focuses on developing human-centered physical AI agents capable of perceiving, acting, and interacting in the real world to provide safe and beneficial services to society. Previously, I served as a Principal Researcher at Samsung AI Center (ex-SAIT AI Research Center) in Suwon, South Korea and as a Machine Learning Researcher at Motorola Mobility LLC in Chicago, IL, USA. I completed my Ph.D. at Purdue University under the supervision of Dr. Karthik Ramani, where I explored interactions among humans, robots, and machine learning models, specifically focusing on user-driven machine learning [J1,C3,C4], gestural user interfaces [C2], and the biomechanical analysis of gestural interactions [J2,C5]. More recently, my research has advanced toward multi-modal 3D scene understanding [C7-C11], cross-modal representation learning [C7,C8], and addressing domain shift problems [C6,C8,C9], and multi-modal action learning [C12,C13,C14] within computer vision and robotics. I am fundamentally interested in the human-like adaptability and generalizability of physical AI agents solving complex real-world tasks, such as autonomous driving and robotic manipulation.
